Steel surveys and repairs
Steel surveys are carried out to determine the condition of the ship’s steel structures and to assess the need for and extent of steel repairs and renewals. Usually, steel surveys are combined with Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements (UTM).
MME carries out coating inspections to examine the condition of coating on ships. An assessment is based on visual observations and expected diminution of areas with coating damages. The inspection results, together with a photo report, will provide adequate information on the coating condition of a ship and the required measures for life time extension.
Following a steel survey, Special survey, CAP survey or owner’s interest inspection, a steel renewal plan can be provided, showing location and extent of needed repairs. This will include weight calculations and specifications, to allow an owner or manager to source the best prices in the market.
When the need for steel renewal has been assessed, MME has experienced inspectors to supervise the repairing process. This includes the marking of the areas under repair, controlling the quality of the repair processes and reporting on this. This service guarantees the owner of the best quality to cost ratio.
