Meet Tjeerd Koehoorn
Tjeerd tells: “ I am Tjeerd Koehoorn, 44 years old, married and father of 3 children. After working in the transport sector for 11 years as a driver and later as a transport planner, I thought it was time for something completely different.”
From Junior NDT inspector to Branch Coordinator
“Through an acquaintance I got in contact with MME Group and the job position as Junior NDT inspector seemed very interesting to me.
After a job interview at the office in Heerenveen, I started on September 1, 2014 as a Junior NDT Inspector. Within a year I achieved various NDT certificates at our own NDT Training Center. I now have the following NDT certificates: Penetrant-, Magnetic-, Visual-, Ultrasonic (level 1)- and Radiographic Testing and a certificate for assessing X-rays. In short, I have been completely retrained.”
“In 2016 a job position as Planner became available in Heerenveen. Because of my experience as a planner, my then Branch Manager asked me if I would be interested in this position. In January 2018 I was promoted to the position of NDT Coordinator and as of July 1, 2021 I was given the opportunity to fulfil the role of Branch Coordinator at our location in Heerenveen, which I like very much so far.”
“My work varies enormously and consists of, among other things, making the daily planning, which involves a lot of contact with customers and inspectors, handling requests regarding quotations, work preparation and providing technical advice. Of course this is supported by our Sales department and our Technical office.”
What makes you enjoy going to work every day?
“MME Group is a large company with many employees, but still a family-owned company. That character remains. It's that character that appeals to me, because people are not numbers. You are always personally addressed and people know each other at every level.”
“In short, I made a good choice in 2014 by starting to work for MME Group and I enjoy going to work every day. This is because of the opportunities that are offered in terms of training, career opportunities and the informal interaction with each other, within our own office but also with the other MME offices.”
