Eddy Current Testing (ET) is used to measure the conductivity of a material. Changes in the conductivity can indicate discontinuities or deviations in the material structure. A coil is used to introduce a magnetic field into the material. This creates so called eddy currents. The intensity of these currents is a measure for the conductivity and detected variations can indicate discontinuities such as crack in the surface and near sub-surface.
